While the Pixel 6 Pro is Google’s finest smartphone to date (read our complete review), it does not imply it is the ideal smartphone for everyone. Additionally, it is not the greatest smartphone on the market, which includes models from Apple and Samsung. While some issues may be resolved by software updates, others are hardware-related, and you must determine if they are critical to you or not. All you need to know about Pixel 6 pro

While camera performance is a primary concern for smartphone manufacturers nowadays, a smartphone is much more than simply a camera. Given that the Pixel 5A 5G will be discounted by $50 on Black Friday, I’m really contemplating getting that phone up for its camera and Google Fi compatibility instead.

I’m returning the Google Pixel 6 Pro for the following reasons. A few of these issues may be resolved with software upgrades, but I’m not prepared to pay the money to find out at the moment.

Slow charging: Yesterday, while out on a boat for nine hours, I used the Pixel 6 Pro for photography, Teams calls, email, and text messaging, among other things. By the end of the workday, the battery was down to 24 percent. I connected it into the rental car’s charger and drove to the hotel, which was about 40 minutes away. The battery barely charged to 38% and then took over an hour to reach 85 percent at the hotel. I’ve not seen a phone charge this slowly in a long time, and I’m not prepared to cope with battery anxiety in 2021. All you need to know about Pixel 6 pro

Average battery life: With a 5,000mAh battery, the Pixel 6 Pro could comfortably last a full day with at least six hours of screen usage. I’m seeing four to almost five hours of standby time and a very low battery at the end of the day. When combined with the phone’s poor charging speed, this is not the phone for me.

RF reception: Because I spend a lot of time travelling and travelling for business, connectivity is critical to me. Samsung and OnePlus have always outperformed the competition when it comes to cellular reception performance, which is why I use them as a benchmark. Comparing the Pixel 6 Pro to my Z Fold 3 reveals that it slows and loses signal while my Z Fold 3 remains connected. I even watched the Pixel’s connection decrease to 3G before it was lost. According to what I’ve read, Google is employing an older version Qualcomm X55 modem, while my Z Fold 3 and other 2021 products have a newer generation Qualcomm X60 modem.

I did not use a screen protector, however the under-display fingerprint sensor has proven inconsistent, with a success rate of about 40%. I adore the Z Fold 3’s side sensor, as well as the back sensor on previous Pixel phones that works well. Because the Pixel 6 Pro lacks a face unlock option, attempting to utilize a secure lock on the smartphone has proved challenging. All you need to know about Pixel 6 pro

Speaker volume and quality: I normally listen to music or watch movies using headphones, but I do like having strong speakers for phone conversations. Despite the Pixel 6 Pro’s dual speakers, the top speaker (integrated into the phone headset speaker) is quite weak, resulting in a mediocre speaker experience. Apple and Samsung are the market leaders in this category, and Google’s flagship phone should compete at that price point.

Odd Spotify outbursts: For some reason, Spotify randomly begins playing my most recently stopped music on the Pixel 6 Pro at random moments. I have the same version of Spotify on all of my other phones, and they do not exhibit similar behaviour, so I’m not certain it’s the programme. Listening to AC/DC while sleeping or at a conference is not a pleasant experience. This seems to be a software issue that might be resolved with a software update.

Not quite there with the scrolling: Comparing my Z Fold 3’s dual screens to the Pixel 6 Pro and connecting them to WiFi demonstrates that fast scrolling up and down the display on the Z Fold 3 is a more fluid experience. When I initially began using the Pixel 6 Pro, I noticed something was off, but it wasn’t until I compared them that I realized something was preventing the Pixel from responding as a 120Hz refresh rate should. The Pixel 6 Pro’s large, slippery, and curved edges need the use of a case or it will slide off almost any surface and out of your hands. It’s a very slick phone, and there are no alternatives for a matte surface. Additionally, it is an extremely huge phone, considerably larger than the Pixel 6. I’m over curved edges and have been spoilt by my Z Fold 3’s flat displays. In general, I’m not a fan of the Pixel 6 Pro’s design.

Cameras aren’t always great: I took a number of images on several phones to test how the Pixel 6 Pro performed, and although it consistently outperformed the competition (which is very subjective depending on what you like in an image), I’ve also seen shots that fell short of my expectations. When I travel, I snap food photographs in order to share delicious meals with my family, and in the majority of them, certain food items are in focus while others are not. It hasn’t performed well with near subjects, and I haven’t been satisfied enough with the camera’s performance to justify the other tradeoffs. All you need to know about Pixel 6 pro

Each of us has unique requirements for our cellphones, and some of the points I made above may not apply to your circumstance. There are also a few that are inherent to the way the phone was constructed, and you must determine if the camera and long-term upgrades from Google are worth the trade-off.
